Two Bricks, Ivy, and Lacey Bits

Three people living in a one bedroom apartment can get a bit cramped at times.  That's not even including company, some D&D days can get claustrophobic.  Seven people in our living room crowded onto all of the surfaces, as trash piles is overwhelming.  I admit that I am a tiny bit OCD, (however that is a known co morbid to BPD.) I like things to be clean, organized and neat. This never happens in a house of three, unless they are all robots.  My corner stays perfectly tidy unless my bed is needed as seating.  So if you can, imagine my excitement when Mel and I cleaned up the balcony today and made it girly and cute.

As that we have possibly one and a half jobs between the three of us, money to decorate a balcony is a  low priority.  Mel, and I have dreams of someday having money to spare on large potted trees and curtains, but for tonight we enjoyed a spontaneous spout of decorating. We hung some lace, a scarf, put a tiny ivy plant on the ledge, added a vase of flowers,  a candle, and of course a tiny bunny in a basket.  There is even a pretty comfortable pile of blankets to rest on whilst look out at the night.  Melinda is working on a painting to hang on the wall, and we even figured out a way to have our laptops out here.  For night this is the perfect "room."

Do you remember being a teenager and talking to your good friend about how you were going to live together as soon as you "got out of the house," and all of the fun times you would have?  you idealized living off of ramen, and working crappy hours.  Melinda and I met in middle school, i'm not sure when we became close, but I do remember talking about how we would live together, and all of the creative things we would do.

When she told me she was engaged I was very happy for her, but at the same time sad that we would never have the chance to live together.  Who knew that one "slit wrist" later we would be living together with her super cool fiance'.  I personally love the resemblance to "How I Met Your Mother."  We decided that Melinda is Marshall, I am Ted and of course Trevor is Lilly, Sarah is our Robin, and we are actually in the market for a female Barney (to continue the gender reversal theme).  So feel free to send us an audition tape ;)

All in all, decorating the balcony with Melinda tonight and hanging out on it together working on stuff listening to music reminded me of the 16 year old girls who used to dream about living together.  Maybe some of our dreams as a child are silly, like the one about marrying Daniel Radcliffe, but when the others come true it's indescribable.

I have however discovered a downside.  Bugs have no sense of boundaries.
